HELP THE CITY VARIETIES RAISE £1,000,000!

The Potato Room Players are backing a campaign to save the world famous City Varieties Music Hall, Leeds. The historic theatre hosted BBC TV's long- running series The Good Old Days, and now needs a full restoration to meet new standards.

The proposed scheme includes the full restoration and repair of the theatre auditorium and a lift to all levels.

A total project cost of £9.2m of which the Heritage Lottery Fund has earmarked £3m, and the Leeds City Council will contribute £5.2m. But the City Varieties still has to raise £1,000,000.

Peter Sandeman, City Varieties Manager, said: "The Disability Discrimination Act has placed extra emphasis on something we have wanted to do for a long time, and that is to make it easier for the less ambulent to attend our performances.

Anyone wishing to donate to the fundraising can call the box office on 08456 441 881 or simply post their donation to the City Varieties Music Hall, Swan Street, Leeds LS1 6LW.
